Many people fear this technology but Harvard University’s David Keith explain how Solar Geoengineering may REDUCE global warming like volcano’s do.
Fareed Zakaria interviews Keith on the fascinating idea that humans may be able to intentionally create volcano like events and systems to block the sun and cool the planet.
Keith is a Professor of Applied Physics and the School of Engineering and a Professor of Public Policy at Harvard and is also the founder of a company named Carbon Engineering, so he know what he is talking about.
The other side of this is, of course, how incredibly dangerous this idea is and how often humans have got the engineering wrong. The potential for full catastrophe is enormous but that does not mean we should not CONSIDER these ideas. Perhaps there is a middle ground technology between this Climate Engineering and doing the little bits we are today.
